Dr. Eligio V. Maghirang, "Elis" to his friends is a teacher, mentor and doctor.  After finishing his Doctor of Medicine at the De La Salle University Health Sciences Campus, he proceeded to train in Emergency Medicine at the Makati Medical Center and became the Chief Resident in 2002.

Instead of just concentrating on private practice, Dr. Maghirang decided to pursue a certification program on Healthcare Ethics at the National Catholic BioEthics Center in the US.  He has utilized his training to enlighten students in various ethical dilemmas in the practice of medicine. He enjoys teaching and values his interaction with students.  He is Assistant Professor at the College of Science, Department of Biology at the De La Salle University, Manila.

Presently, he is a member of the BioEthics Committee at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center where he also works as emergency medicine physician.  He is likewise affiliated as emergency medicine specialist at the Makati Medical Center

In between his work as institutional Review Board member at the Tropical Diseases Foundation, Inc and as flight and ambulance physician of the International SOS, he enjoys practical shooting, kendo, soccer, mountaineering, hiking and watching and listening to classical music and jazz concerts.

He always imparts to his students that: "Physicians only cure sometimes, palliate often and but comfort always."
