The Phlippine College of Emergency Medicine (PCEM) through its Research and Academics Committee is set to conduct the 2nd WINFOCUS Basic Ultrasound Life Support Course on October 24-25, 2014. This in cooperation with WINFOCUS Malaysia led by its President Dr. Adi Osman.

Following the success of the first course last April  25-26, PCEM and WINFOCUS Malaysia hope to foster further cooperation to enhance the use of ultrasound in the practice of emergency medicine.  A total of 30 participants from various emergency departments learned how to utilize bedside ultrasound to improve diagnosis of urgent illness and improve outcomes of resuscitation.

According to Dr. Reynante Mirano, Chair of the Research and Academics Committee, emergency ultrasound is a significant skill that must be learned by emergency medicine physicians. Another 50 participants are targetted to acquire the skill in performing beside ultrasonography and interpreting the results.
